My MY59 is doing exactly the same as your, changed the micro switch nothing, changed the actuator nothing. I get nothing now and i cannot get into the boot at all unless i go through the back and flick the catch. I have tried everything - we have a plug in fault code ready i will try that today and see if i have any faults.
Does anybody have any ideas???

Adrian.

Not sure what else to suggest. Mine was doing the same. No new faults that day, just seemed dead.

Started working after I had unplugged a few times, tried the old one again (which seemed dead as well) then just started working after I started the car.

Maybe try a hard reset to see if it resets something??

so today I have had a good look at this problem - Actuator over a slave battery works fine and is brand new.
Switch in tailgate is brand new.
The issue that I have is that there is only 9.5v one side of the switch and what seems to be a fault to ground the other site.
9.5v is not enough to fire the actuator so even if I cut out all the wiring in the tailgate I still can't get the actuator to fire????
Has anybody any ideas.
Adrian.

Dodgy Tail Gate - Intermittent Opening and Fades Away

Hi there,
did anyone have a solution for the tail gate that intermittently works.
Mine has a problem where the latch activated from the tail gate switch will only allow the tailgate to partly open. In this instance the double press of the buttons on the dash will release the rest of the way.
There are occasions where the switch will not even allow the tail gate to partly open. when this occurs the double press does nothing.
Also, similar to other posts, if I continuously click the tail gate switch, the noise get fainter until no sound at all. Big Cry

I haven't testing any voltages yet but will when I get time.
where should I start looking????
Cheers
Bow down

If you continually click the button you will activate the thermal overheat system so it will stop working regardless. Rolling Eyes

New Acutator I will try!

thanks, just read about a dozen topics on the same problem.
Particularly about the voltage step thing.
I will give a new actuator a try and see how I go.
thanks Mate

Right looks like my actuator is knacjered ,
Who is “Dan”
And where can I get hold of him to get a new actuator ?

Just following on from this.

I got a new actuator from Dan and it was delivered quickly. Best price i could find anywhere, so i would recommend going straight to him.

I went about changing the actuator following the "How to" guides on here which were great.

All going well, and new unit fitted. Just before i went to put everything back together, i thought i would just check it to make sure it was working. - Bearing in mind the old unit opened to let me get access to it.

Went to check it by operating the button on the top tailgate. Nothing.

Tried the key, nothing. Everything seemed dead. Checked connections, reconnected, tried old one, everything dead. Lower tailgate button still working ok! Checked the button on the upper tailgate and looked new inside the rubber. Nice and clean with positive switch click.

Took the lock assembly out and checked that. All "Seemed" ok from what i could tell. Just nothing from the actuator. Got annoyed, and had something else i needed to do, so though i would just leave it accessible, and close the car up, which i did. Shut the boot again, and tried it and dead still. I had to move the car back onto the drive, so i checked for faults with IID. This was from yesterday:

Anyway, no new faults, so i moved the car back onto the drive. I tried it once more and it started working. It worked for maybe 5-6 times then stopped again, and went dead. Left it for a few minutes then it worked again solidly for a few few more times.

Im in two minds whats going on.

1) The car needed to be started to reset something after the new unit was installed? Then when i tried it after it had been started, and it worked for 5-6 times continuously, the cars electronics cut in to stop it overheating or something. Read something about this??

2) Its still got an intermittent fault somewhere and i don't trust it?

What does the knowledge of the forum think? Working and put it all back together, or still faulty?
