Its time for the old girls Second set of Cambelts

Had my D3 from new just done 135,000 so its now time for the second set of belts, I fitted a new oil pump about 8 years ago now so all good so belts new idlers, tensioner, plus a water pump. I will also change the fan mount bearing while it is stripped down.

Flack Thumbs Up

So after how many miles should the second belt change be done? Mine was done at 88331, and now I'm on 153192, which makes it 64861 on these belts. The new oil pump, idlers, water pump, "fan" belt was done at 88331.

105k miles (168k km) or 7 years whichever comes first, I believe.

So are you saying every 7 years or 105k interval they need to be changed?

@kajtzu is spot on thats the period of time or mileage that they need to be changed, my second change is a bit behind so thats tomorrows job.

Keep me quiet for a couple of hours...

Mines on a '54 plate with 110 miles on the clock. Bought off of this forum about 5 years ago. Doing the timing and auxillary belts and the oil pump on the coming Monday should the weather permit. I'm not replacing the rear belt yet as not too sure i'll be capable, need to do a bit of research first.

The rear belt is easy enough you just have to work blind and by feel, plenty of posts on the board on what needs to be done on the rear belt change.

Thanks Flack. Have done some reading on the posts on here but not sure my body will be flexible enough. Haven't written it off though just thought I'd tackle the 2 front ones first. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Do you want me to see if there’s a guide with photos anywhere to help you Mick or do you think you’ll be able to manage and scrape through it.
