Timed Climate = Low Battery

Now that the cold weather is here and I really need the timed climate, it's not working. Banging Head
I'm having the same problems every time I activate the timed climate, using either the timer or the remote.
The FBH will start up but after about five minutes it stops and the message centre comes up with "Low Battery, start engine". I had a new alternator fitted a few months ago, so the charging system should Rolling Eyes be OK.
It's currently booked into the stealers to be looked at Neutral As anyone else had a similar problem?

Funny you should say that. I've been using mine on the remote with no problem at all, but Monday I decided to set the timmers for the first time ever to come on at 07;30 am, yesterday got in the car all nice and warm, but when I tried to start the engine it definately hesitated, but then started so I thought no more of it. This morning got in the car and it was cold, tried to start engine.....nothing, all the lights on but no way would it start so took another car into work. Called out LR assist, guy came out he told SWMBO car started first time, so he left without even checking for any fault codes. wonder if I have the same problem as you.

Hi
i have posted regarding this as well, having same issues in cold mornings with 2nr <4 week old D4. have arranged for one to go back into dealers over xmas to see if it can be sorted.
had similar problems on a freelander that i bought for my wife, some years back, land rover fitted what they called a 'cold climate battery' in other words, it was uprated.
keep us posted as to what the dealer says, i have been emailing daily reports to mine to give as much info about what is happening to mine.
 Cheers

I've also had a cold car and the warning message after using my remote, on my 4 week old D4. I've been doing mostly short runs but I don't have a problem starting her up.
However - the car is parked on a sloping drive, and I've noticed that the remote works OK when the car is pointing uphill (1/4 tank of fuel), so maybe fuel level sensors think it's much lower when the car points downhill ?

my car's not due to be picked up until 4th Jan. So you should probably get to know what the problem is before me. Fortunately I'm out of the country.. in the sunny Sahara... 8) although it's bloody cold on a morning, about -2 Shocked and our land cruisers don't have timed climate either. Big Cry

I saw TLO's post. I am a bit surprised about that; when I worked in Russia all the Japanese cars came with heavy duty batteries, not only that but they also came with uprated alternators etc, and all of our Land Cruisers, Shoguns and Patrols came with Webasto fuel burning heaters and timers. The only difference between them and the D3 / D4 heaters was that these worked Rolling with laughter Come to think of it even at -45 I cannot remember any of our vehicles not starting, as long as no one left the lights on all night Whistle
Even in Japan the vehicles made for Hokkaido the big island in north of Japan were winterised because they also get very cold winters. So I'm surprised that LR don't make any changes for the colder locations. Then again LR being LR I guess I'm not really surprised Rolling with laughter

Hi
interest one this morning, got the low battery warning, and the park heater failed to run, but the out side temp was 10 deg according to car temp gauge and 8 degs on my weaather station, so fairly warm i would say.

I think this may be a new known problem. My MY12 locked out timed climate via factory fit remote on several occasions recently saying " low fuel or battery" and its wasn't fuel, also not battery after a high speed 50 mile thrash.

My dealer had an on the spot look and found the fault record but couldn't clear it. It's going in on Thursday so will keep you posted....

I think there is a similar known problem with the Battery Monitoring System being too sensative and preventing timed climate operating correctly. It's specific to New Range Rover, Discovery 4 MY12 and RRS- "SYMPTOM 20500 Electrical Accessories" last modifed 21 Dec 2011 - SSM54517.

Problem seems to affect all D4's - if temperature goes below freezing the battery gives up!

Hope to get mine sorted out when it goes in for a due service later this month....
