Trying a temporary version of the glass option using a CD case. I has a nice clear strong lid and it sits in quite nicely in the cubby hole. I do have some nice black perspex which I can cut to size if I am happy with the position. By the way this was a TomTom one 2nd edition which has a slightly different mount from the the others. Thanks everyone for their suggestions.

Yup, my ol fashioned TomTom Go fits snuggly into the centre cubby (where the LR satnav unit goes) - The rubber mat holds it tight. Perfect!2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.

Older TT GO sits in the cubby area with no need for a bracket (snug fit). The newer ones need something to stick the suction mount to, interesting to hear the various home-made options but I bought a disc from eBay
Stick it down and attach the suction to it, doddle. I even cut the rubber mat to fit around it and run the power wire under the trim for a neat finish.

I have a Garmin M4. GPS, PDA. More versatile then just a GPS. It is an MP3 player and can run ozi explorer which gives you topo. maps instead if the standard road maps. All can be played through the aux in on the stereo.
I mounted it above the stereo by fixing a disc of aluminium to the side of the sat. nav. opening with pop rivets and sticking the suction disc to it with double sided tape. Then I attached the windscreen cradle to it. I removed the facia to the stereo-a/c and placed the power cable behind it. It works well is neat and gives a good signal for the satellites as it is under the screen.

Like Russ, I have a VDO system and the screen fits where the LR satnav fits (see my gallery). Recently upgraded the VDO computer to the new SD card version. Much faster than the CD/DVD system and half the size, so can be hidden well. Lots of info including speed cameras etc and full European mapping. Very reliable!*Disco3 7-seat Auto

Hi All,
I'm wanting to do the same thing with my GO710. A combination of the home dock being attached (prob. using strong adhesive eg epoxy ,''super glue'' or other) to the suction cup dock, minus the suction cup. This way will maintain the power, ext. antennae & the microphone (via the car dock) & the stability the home dock base will offer. The unit will still be able to be removed, dock(s) and all, if required, offer access to the power up button and the positioning will be so as to allow the light sensor to function.
I'll post pics when I can.
Cheers,
David.Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.
