Gaz I'm not questioning your integrity, I know your a good lad but please do us a favour and don't over bake the cake "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

discocuzzy,
I suggest that you get a good night's sleep and, hopefully, wake up in a better mood tomorrow.
Best Wishes,

You don't need any mods, standard D3 will do everything just fine Thumbs Up
why would you than need dual battery setup and other you mention for over-landing if you can do Pyrenees in std D3?

My word how times have changed !
It's come to something when the competancy of an Overland vehicle is measured by where you purchase your GPS and how many batteries you have got !
And a fridge ?
Does anybody know their history ?
Where was or when was the expansion tank on vehicles derived ?
It's a car for Pittys sake !Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Steve,
I know where you're coming from, difficult to put into words but I do understand what you mean. As for the Pyrenees, a standard D3 will cope with it, I'd suggest some ATR's or beefier though, but other than that you don't need anything else. You'd be better of spending money on a decent sleeping bag and stove than roof lights and light guards.
Each to their own at the end of the day, but I don't really see the point in putting all the kit on if you're never going to use it (reasonably regularly) for what it's intended for. Much in the same way that I don't know why people by D3's and only use them on tarmac.
Off Topic
I was in Oldbury a couple of weeks ago and there was a guy in a D3 G4 challenge, so I assumed he would be a forum user and possibly a member of the G4 owners club etc. so I stuck my head in to have a chat, he wasn't interested in taking the car off road, overland or in any of the clubs, or even a forum user. What a waste of a G4. But it's his car at the end of the day.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

I have a lot of FUN modifying and running all sorts of different cars over the years be it a Dodge Charger Daytona in Lime Green with Black Bonnet, a 2011 RR 5.0 Conversion or a Modified Tonga D3......
I prefer my cars to be a little different and to look good (IMO) but most of all I have worked hard for 30 years and I like to have a bit of FUN with my daily drive cars. Those that think its "over the top" can choose to keep their D3's bog standard.
PS: I have only recently been introduced to proper "Off Roading" and its the most fun I have had in ages so I intend to do a lot more including at least a trip to the Pyrenees when my business gives me the chance to.
For me the choice between Standard & Modified is simple but opinion is a great thing:

Hmm, my answer is "different strokes for different folks"
And our survey says "Different strokes for different folks" IS the top answer!!!
Yay I've won a powerboat and live in the mountains
To be honest I quite like the look of the motor and as has been said a few times each to their own, either that or we'll all look the same. The only bit I 'personally' am not as keen on is the black wheels but that's cause I'm different.
I'm not going to cause a song and dance about it or go slapping Gaz cause that's not fair, plus ... he might be bigger than me
Now "can't we all just get along?" couldn't resist ending on the cheesiest line possible
