Think you will find that the Defender actually retains its value better than any other 4x4, most of that list (bar the D4) are no more than exec cruisers on stilts. "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

The clue to the simplistic journalism is the pre-school phrase '4x4 car'. Combine that with the assumption that the first 10% of a LR potential lifetime is the key to real value, and you can dismiss this piece of candyfloss space filling as of relevance only to people who buy what the neighbours would approve. What ridiculous nonsense

I've scoured the web and only found one X6 for sale pre-owned and that's a dealer doing the pre-registered thing. The X6 is a really niche car and will sell so few examples with such wildly differing specs that even after three yerars it's average residual value won't mean jack.

These are just forecasts based on no sound fact whatsoever and no possible knowledge of what the used car market will be like in September 2012 when the first D4s come up for sale.
