Thanks, I appreciate it.

We'll have a result for the US 2005 (which includes UK 2004s) in May, and a result for the 2006 in August.

In both cases the results will be asterisked for insufficent sample size, though.

Help get rid of those asterisks and provide more precise results:

That result for the 2005 has been posted. At 133 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year, it's worse than average.

More recent years will probably prove more reliable. The 2006 remains on track for August. Need more people for all years, though.

Next update in August, with a preview for participants next month. I hope this will include the 2006 as well as the 2005, but this will depend on how many owners participate.

For other years, still not to the minimum sample size.

That update soon.

If you've signed up to participate but haven't yet responded to the survey (via a link in the email you received), please do. And if you haven't signed up yet, I hope you'll consider doing so. We're currently just a bit short of the minimums with the 2005 and 2006.

Feck all mate I do believe Whistle

But American's love stats and then to whine about them Thud

There's a whole hotel full of 'em here tonight banging on again about how Britain needs to sort out its economy or else they 'figure' less of them will be coming here for vacations.

Mind you, most of them looked like they were on their last weekend pass out of Florida before they retire for good... and that was just the aircrew from AA and Continental Rolling with laughter

With my stats compared to others out there, I set out to do two things:

--post the actual average number of repair trips per year, to make it clear how large the differences actually are (generally smaller than people think)

--update promptly four times a year, to closely track vehicles as they age

Now, there's going to variation from vehicle to vehicle, so these stats are no guarantee of how many repairs any particular vehicle will require. But when the average is higher, your odds of a repair with any particular vehicle are also higher.

Mind you, I could also do without the all-too-common whining.

About time for those stats--they'll be posted this week for the 2005 and 2006.

With both years, the result will be asterisked this time around for a marginal sample size.

I'd like to get rid of those asterisks, and include additional model years. It's possible that the repair rate has dropped with each year, but without more data I cannot say either way.
