Euro IV emissions & the 2007 model engine mystery
I have seen quite a few posts now referring to the Euro IV emissions regs and the new compliance of the D3 MY 2007 TdV6 engine. Making it a different beast to the previous engine in terms of noise & some say power as well. I cetainly notice much better MPG than previous engines.
However It can't be right about the engine change - because these IV emissions were introduced in 2005 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro_IV So surely from 2005 the D3 had to comply.
The 2007 engine is definately different & noiser than previous versions - I know by experience & comments here......
But it's not to do with Euro IV - so can anybody enlighten me or did I miss something? 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

So I think Land Rover are doing pretty well to meet these emission requirements - never ever seen anything in the press about these current IV requirements - these seem pretty stringent to me..... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

The core engine is the same - it was designed with EU-IV in mind, LR didn't have time to get the full compliance in place for the launch.
The main difference is the fuel rail pressure, injectors, EGR system and fuel mapping

10forcash,

Sorry, wasn't too clear the fuel rail pressure is increased but the injector duration is decreased, the increase in pressure gives better atomisation, therefore a cleaner burn
The EGR system now includes temperature sensors to make it 'adaptive' to the engine temperature and therefore optimises EGR use dependent upon warm-up and 'normal' operating temperature. The injector pulse also cuts out upon throttle release to prevent 'overrun' fuelling
so unlike my Cooper S or Kawasaki ZX6 it doesn't pop and flame on the over-run "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

thanks for the info, that seems to be also translating into better fuel economy. 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.
