Offside mirror

My offside mirror has suddenly decided it does not want to go up and down, it goes side to side ok so what should I be looking at, something fallen off or a new mirror? Neutral

It's either the switch or a mirror motor.

Does it even try? Do you hear anything at all?

The motor behind the mirror glass has either failed or is not getting power, only way is to remove the glass Sad and test it, there is also a connector in there that may have a poor connection. Motors are available as a separate item, great care is needed to remove the mirror glass in one piece but it can be done.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Dismantling the switch is quite easy and you can see if any of the pcb tracks have broken. I had a problem some years ago when one of the tracks kept burning therefore stopping the mirror adjusting . I eventually found that the when the drivers seat was in a certain position it was chaffing the insulation on a wire under the seat and causing a short circuit. If you remove the drivers seat base (can't remember exactly how it detaches but it was fairly straightforward) you can inspect the wiring loom which feeds the mirror control. A bit of insulating tape and minor adjusting of how the wiring was secured sorted it.

When I put it in reverse it will go side to side auto adjusting but not up or down, sounds like a job for Geoff the next time we meet as I know jack about electrics and the mirror glass WILL break the minute I put my fingers on it Rolling with laughter
