How have people found it's best to get the old badge off?
I've tried dental floss and fishing line to get behind mine but the damn thing must be held on with some sort of magic glue!

Scarab I just used dental floss but in a sawing action back and forth and this works a treat!
Then peel any chunky foam pad left behind by hand, followed by I you not a bottle of ''sticky stuff remover'' and then polish to a shine!It's better to burn out, than fade away...

Beanie I've dented my steering wheel badge... has anyone else had trouble fitting a new one, or has any tips?
The (well, at least my) old badge had four prongs, and the new one has three. The two on the same side aren't in the same place so they don't go into the same holes. I started off by carefully making the holes larger with a Stanley blade, then trying to cut a new one for the bottom middle. At this point I started to worry considering what lies beneath. I ended up cutting a bit away from each top lug so it fitted onto the existing holes, and removing the bottom lug all together. I was sceptical that the sticky pad would hold it, considering that you can't bend the lugs backwards once they're through the hole.
However, the sticky pad holds it perfectly, no 'popping' if you push the badge because its only half stuck. So, I'd suggest:
Cut the two top lugs on the inner sides
Remove the bottom lug
Makes sure the badge is straight (and the right way up, I didn't have my wheel straight so had to double check!), and push down.
No problem
The only worrying thing is that my old badge was a swine to get out because of the backwards bent metal lugs, you don't want to damage the steering wheel. An answer may be to CAREFULLY drill small holes into the face of the badge roughly where the lugs are, so you can lever out with a small terminal screwdriver. You would have to use a battery drill on a very slow speed so you can instantly stop as soon as the bit breaks through the metal.
Worth doing.

Weird! Mine had no sticky pad or glue at all, held on only by the four metal tabs.
I say 'only'... I had to twist and wrench mine off, there was no way it was coming off without a struggle. One one the lugs is still stuck in there. The metal isnt that thick, so breaks and rips fairly easily as its quite thin.

This is there steering wheel badge we're talking about? Mine, and it sounds like most or all others, have metal tabs from the side edge going into the airbag.
I think there's crossed wires going on here. This thread's definitely about steering wheel badges but I think MikeyRules is talking about the Grill/Boot badges?

I can't see anyone removing a steering wheel badge with dental floss, there are metal tabs on the back that would shred the floss
Bonnet letters yes, even a grille badge or tailgate badge due to the fact they are recessed would be difficult with dental floss Altox GSM FBH controller thread
