can you tell me from what build year on?
And what the reason is?
Mine is under heavy stress since day one, so I wonder if it's for models from 2004 In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

Weakness in the drop plate, especially when the tow ball is on the highest setting....prone to bending, apparently. Contains sulphites

Well done Nick, glad you've 'come out of the closet' at last.........just one question, I have the LR bike carrier plate that attaches to the plate that needs replacing, and from the diagram it looks like the bike carrier attachment may not now fit behind this new plate properly, at least, without making some other modifications. Have LR thought of this? I'd be grateful for any info on this. Cheers

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your kind words.
And Chris i may well take you up on that on one of the next outings but i must finish my much documented house renovation first....wifey wouldn't be too pleased if i spent a weekend jollying it up when the toilet and hand basin are in cardboard boxes in the corner of the bathroom....

as far as i am aware the new plate is a direct replacement from the old version, maybe slightly thicker....don't know yet, i have a consignment coming to me tommorow(Thursday) and will check them out and post my findings but it should be a case of if it fit before it should fit after.

Well, hopefully, my currently lifeless lump of metal and plastic bits now has a new drop plate fitted. It will doubtless look a bit "new"..... Contains sulphites

So is it only the drop plate thats changed, as I took mine off, and have the ball mounted directly to the cast bit that fits into the hitch receiver.

Hi Guys,
al cope
we are seeing alot of people have done the same thing( Mounted the ball direct to hitch receiver ).... Do you still have the tapered bolts and nuts that fit it as we are having trouble obtaining them.
Winger
I see your car has not got the drop plate on either I don't suppose you have the tapered bolts ?
