Thanks Mike
Im sure someone told me gas had gone up end of last year but I thought he was talking about that new super a/c gas that new cars have to have, whatever its called.
Just been working out and I reckon its over 15 years since i last paid to have the job done on any of our cars

The new gas has actually come down in price
I remember not that long ago, 12kg of the "old" gas was only £50. Now its closer to £400 My D3 Build Thread

Thankfully my 2006 D3 has never needed a top up and is still as cold as ice. I use it a lot during the summer and have been told that’s the best way of keeping it cold.

I think you will fidn on the D3 you cant actually switch the a/c off even when selecting eco mode it is still ticking over.
Every car I have ever owned the a/c has always been, great in the winter with a wet dog/clothes etc.

Its better to use the ac all the time as it keeps the lube oil circulating and prevents the seals drying out.
You will always get refrigerent loss with r134a as it seeps through the rubber hoses or the usual culprit for loss is the shrader valves leak on the fill points. I would always recomend getting the system toppped up and checked every two years.
Most garages have automatic machines that suck out the system reclaim and reuse the gas thats already in there and replace the lube oil but i would always recomend replacing the shrader valves at the same time.
