Thank you land rover for not using heavy duty parts in you clutches, and using playdoe for your rollbar bushes and last but not least cheap monkey metal for your brake pipes. we was going on holiday next week but not now after paying for this lot
And to top it off swmbo picked up a screw on the way home in the not so old rear tyre(2months old) one life, live it

Your pain is not unique, although we weren't actually going away in ours this week ( as it's half term), last Friday ours decided to fry the alternator and the front passenger door lock gave up at the same time Outdoor excursions with three dogs are a bit tricky in a golf convertible and theeeeennn......???

You can't beat living on your nerves from week to week.
What I want to know is how Land Rover knew to program the D3 to fail the week/day before a long trip or holiday? Or is it just my paranoia? Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

That's not at all good !
And I too am awaiting the dreaded clutch failure
In the interests of keeping myself sane though I embarked upon a preventative maintenance route some 3 years ago instead of an extended warranty once my manufacturers warranty expired !
So far and touching wood its proved to be fault free ?
I've already had the brake lines replaced, the front end steering was replaced last year before the MOT was due for RRS wishbones etc, diff oils replaced, transfer box oil replaced, gear box oil replaced, engine oil dropped at 5K intervals ! 105K service done 10K miles early with the dreaded oil pan change as I'm right in the middle of the range !
The back end is getting replaced again for RRS arms in the next few months for the upcoming MOT and as for the clutch ? Who knows, part of me wants to replace that but I feel like I've spent too much in the last 12 months alone so we will just have to see ! Only dead fish go with the Flow !
