Help! TDV6 engine cuts out
Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago my D3 started stalling on its own. It's fine when when at speed but as soon as I slow to a crawl or stop, it stalls. If I leave the engine ticking over on my drive it stalls between 30 secs and 1min 30secs later. Very annoying!
I also have the ABS light, the HDC light, the suspension warning light and the parking brake light all on! It's light Blackpool illuminations in there!
I have read and read every forum page for a fix for this problem and it mostly seems to be the battery's hats causing it. I spent £110 on a new battery (100ah, 900CCR) and the problem is the same if not WORSE!
I'm now reluctant to drive it (although I have to) as I could restart the engine 20 times + in an hour.
Anyone got any ideas?

Shot in the dark,did you do a hard reset when you put new battery on? MY24 Defender 90 X-Dynamic HSE

Yeah I did. The lights came on the very next time I started the engine! Strange!

Have you checked the alternator is churning out 14 to 15v approx with engine running ?.....(get someone to keep their foot on the accelerator to keep it running, whilst you have a multimeter reading voltage connected to the battery terminals). Note, a faulty alternator doesn't always cause the red non charging light to illuminate on the dash.

Just read the alternator and it's running at 15v exactly. The strange thing is that when it's left overnight it's fine for the first journey the next day. Then the second time I switch it on the faults appear, the suspension lowers and it stalls whenever I stop.
Is there a sensor that could be causing this? It's like a sensor is faulty. Sometimes it's fine and other times it throws all the lights on the dash.

I think your stabbing in the dark, you need to get the faults read, and post the codes. Then you will get some informed advice.

Had it on the code reader at the garage and it displays "INVALID FAULT CODE"
Any ideas?

Hi. Sorry to be so vague! I don't mean to be. The disco is in the garage. Apparently they've found a cluster of connectors under the battery that are quite corroded. They can start the engine, wiggle one of the connectors and the engine will just stall. They are going to snip the connector and solder the wires together. This is instead of getting a new loom.
