RRS and D3 - one has to go, but which one? |
|
Objective hats on folks please
SWMBO has decided on a new Audi A3 Quattro, which can be run cost effectively through the business, to replace her 56 RRS HSE.
So I spent a few hours fettling it for sale yesterday and have to say it came up sparkling
So here's the thing - the RRS has 68K on the clock and has proved to be a touch more reliable than the D3 (though neither have been bad), whereas the D3 (an 06 plate HSE) has 115k.
Now the kids are a bit older I have less need for the extra 2 seats and the bigger boot.
So now I'm thinking - should I keep the RRS instead of the D3?
Both are essentially standard, unmodified. But reading both forums, it seems to me that the current market for high-ish mile older D3's is pretty good, whereas that for older standard RRS is a bit slower and the car would probably sell more easily if it was blinged up to the nines
Would hate to see the old girl go but am wondering if the RRS might be a better bet to see me through to whichever flavour of new family Discovery eventually appeals most (a plug-in hybrid a-la Mitsi Outlander would be good please LR! )
Which one would you keep and why?

Assuming they are both TDV6's, keep the Disco.
Much nicer colour
RRS will release more capital
And you never know if/when the back end of the D3 will come in useful for load-lugging My D3 Build Thread

DM I think you've hit the nail...
Lower mileage on the Sport potentially makes it easier to run for a couple of years. But the D3 has that go anywhere, do anything practicality and plenty of peeps seem to be running them with much higher miles than mine.
Will probably come down to finances though - if the RRS value is significantly higher I'll probably shift that one. If the difference is more marginal I may move the D3 on the basis it will cost me less on maintenance.
Lespes - both are 2006, D3 is about 6 month's older. D3 is slightly better equipped too.
