Yeah brother in law going to do it for me while I'm away. Bit of a pain to take apart but hopefully worth it in the end. Car looks naked without it though.

Andy these racks are a pain if you don't have a floor plate on them especially if you have a glass roof we use ours all the time and I have checker plate on mine for more strength when I load it up I'd keep the floor mucker "Your mind is like a parachute! It will only function when open"!

I've got a rack sitting in the back garden as well, it needs a freshen up so getting a respray as well.
How do you strip it down? Is it just removing all the Allen key nuts or what?
Thankfully the front is uncut and undamaged but it needs a floor to protect my glass roof.

I wouldn't be without my floor, great in the heat (safari stylee) and means I can leave my sunroof open in the rain. FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

Not got a glass roof so not a problem there.
You need to take all the Alan bolts out and the rivets holding the plastic trim that hides the brackets. Take care when drilling the rivets out as some of mine have pushed through making the hole quite big, so will have to think of something when I reassemble.
Will have a look at the floor when I've finished with it. Going to take off the old grip tape and replace it with new. Was going to do a bit more tonight but it's lashing down at the minute so might have to wait.
Paint arrived today so it's off to the BIL's tomorrow for him to work his magic
Just hope I can remember how it all goes back together
Will keep you all updated.

Just sprayed mine.
I never took it apart in the end, just masked up some bits and went for it.
Chose Santorini black for the colour and after 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of black with 2 laquar, it's looking decent.
Not perfect as it's my first time spraying something but it's far better than it was before.

I'll get some tomorrow when I've finished with the brackets and have it fitted.

Rack has been painted and on for a while now. Also just sorted my floor out and fitted it tonight. Will try and get some better photos at the weekend when it's light.
One on the D3.
Cheers
