Flaming DVLA are ************ |
|
Just sent my road tax to DVLA along with personal plate transfer, the Disco is a 54 plate so I sent them £80 for number plate transfer and £285 for tax, they sent it all back telling me tax is £485. I check online with DVLA using my reg number and it says £285. It runs out Monday so best I use the Post Office, then just send them the plate transfer.

They should all be £285, we have a great product built in UK so our government tries to encourage the motorist to buy something else. Great for jobs that one.

Good look
We have just had a nightmare taxing several of our trucks.......
We have had to tax all 3 at a much higher rate of road tax so we can use them and then had to battle the dvla for a refund.
After much communication and paperwork between VOSA & DVLA we eventually managed to get the price of the tax reinstated at the same price they have been for the last 2 years!!!
The refund cheque turned up
Made out to the registration plate of one of the trucks
And so the process will probably start again

Seems like they need to learn their own charging scales.

We've recently gone through loads of pain registering and taxing my sons car.
They really are very incompetent, and made mistakes putting his details onto the V5 which meant the car wasn't registered to him and we couldn't tax it when the V5 arrived.
What really annoyed me was that their answer was to send the V5 back and wait another few weeks until they sorted it out.
I had several conversations with more and more senior management until one of them agreed to walk all the documents through the process, which to his credit he did, and it was sorted in 24hrs.
I found that each time I called it was possible to talk to the manager of the person who answered the call by explaining that it wasn't personal, but they didn't have the ability to help me.
I made a real point each time, very politely and calmly, that we were their customers, we paid their wages, and that in my opinion they were extremely incompetent and the fees they charged were grossly inflated by the need to carry out so many transactions more than once to right mistakes.
The point was really brought home by a particular policy they have. Each time I spoke to a manager or supervisor they would not supply their surname for their own security.
Apparently they have 'a few' complaints, and don't wish the likes of me to look them up in the Swansea telephone book and turn up on their doorstep
I wish there was a way we could all make a serious point to somebody who cares and can do something about them, but sadly I don't think there is.
All I can do at this point is add them to the list of people I'm going to really make suffer when I'm prime minister, along with the equally incompetent employees of the Post office.

I sent off all the details for a cherished transfer recently so my missus could display her new plate once we returned from holiday. I've been told by Narpy junior, all the paperwork has been returned because, apparently.......and this is a beauty, I didn't include the latest V5 document for the transfer........which is rather odd.
It's the only V5 document we have and as its them who issue this paperwork why didn't they simply print another if ours wasn't correct and complete the transfer?
Apparently I now have to send them a document they issue, that I don't currently have! Mods:

I sent in a V5 for a change of address recently - it came back with the new correct address, but also with the keepers name changed! (Not a change of recorded keeper, previous keeper stayed the same).
Glad I'm sending them in one at a time, and keeping copies!

Mam can see the very ugly DVLA? Building from her house, she's well into her 80's now - but I can send her round with a cricket bat if any of you anything sorted
Part of the reason I paid a company to do my number plate transfer was the issues I've had with the DVLA in the past
On a more pleasant note, my sister worked there when I was much younger, they had a film club and I remember going there as a young lad to watch " The Towering inferno" with her Iggy/Ieuan

When I recently bought my D3, I also sold a Defender and transferred the reg plate. All forms filled in properly and correct fee sent but I ended up unable to tax the D3 for three weeks because they 'forgot' to send the new V5's out Darren

I was thinking I was the unlucky one, thankfully my 90 is being bought by a lad who is understanding. So I'll try again and cross my fingers.

Taxed D3 today a local post office, they just scanned the bar code on V5c to find out it was £285, guess that was too difficult for Swansea. Oh well sent cherished transfer off again for another try.
