Changed Oil & Filter
Off to France for 2 weeks on Tuesday so thought it would be wise to change the oil & filter and it was 9500Km since the last change.
First time I have done it myself, easy job but was worried about fitting the filter after reading horror stories of collapsed filters. Straight forward from what I had read here so gave it a bash. Placed the filter on the engine/filter bed and twisted it very slightly until I felt the tit pop in the hole and pushed it all the was home. Replaced the rubber seal on the filter housing and screwed it home and tightened it up.
Fitter new drain plug and filled her up again with oil. Started her and then stopped it, done this twice just to make sure the filter was full of oil and then started her again, all the time checking that the oil light was out. Let her tick over for a min or 2 and took her for a test drive down the road and back.
Leaving her parked up on level ground over night and will check level yet again first thing in the morning, if all is well I'll fit back the engine cover and fit sump guard.Dale

Mine has the oil changed every 5k miles, run the engine to heat up the oil and then let it drain for 45 minutes to an hour. Refill with 5.5L of Magnatec 5w30 A1.
The dipstick isn't the easiest thing to read when covered in new clean oil.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

I use good oil but like to change it every 5 or 6 thousand miles, but with going away on holiday it was imperative to change it before I went.Dale
