locking wheel nut
Dam locking wheel nut practicality broke in half today when I tried to remove it, leaving the bottom part still screwed down tight against the wheel. Luckily I didn't have a puncture (was going to adjust EPB) so I could drive to local tyre place who removed the remnants in seconds. Needless to say, remaining 3 locking nuts in bin tomorrow and 4 normal nuts being fitted.

Best place for them, IMHO
I think you had a lucky escape, I took mine off ages ago after reading about them on here.

Years ago I had a puncture and it took ages and a lot of brute force to get the wheel off.
So I ditched them then and since on my D4.
They are the worst thing on the D3/4, followed closely by the jack.

A very fair summary!
For reasons I cannot explain I have yet to bin the lockers on my current D4. I've just not driven past Dan's place (Duckworth's) for ages so have not bought new bolts to replace them.
