Joshpmc's Java Black Disco 3 TDV6 HSE
Hi All,
I just thought id introduce myself and my disco. I have been a member on here for a few months and finally took the plunge into D3 ownership about 6 weeks ago. I previously had an Alfa 159 TI SW which was a lovely car but I kept finding myself wandering over to this site and autotrader in the hunt for a D3.
Not the usual car for a 24 year old and believe me ive had some stick at work for buying it but its worth it!
The car is a Java Black D3 TDV6 HSE with just over 100k miles on. Its had 1 owner from new and full main dealer history.
I have been driving it for a few weeks now and absolutley love it!
I had it remapped yesterday and the difference is unbelievable, but still on the to do list is:
Get Windows Tinted
Get side steps fitted
Get arches, Door handles and Bumpers colour coded
De tango Headlights
Get D4 Style Grille
Get D4 rear lights
Fit Land Rover lettering to bonnet
Photos are in my gallery.
Thanks,
Josh

Don't worry mate I get a lot of flack for owning at D3 at 21! But it's quite a change from an ST Fiesta
Disco looks good, it's in the best colour 8)2007 D3 XS Auto 101k
BF Goodrich AT's
RLD black sump guard
LR Spot lamps
Shire Fabrication rock and tree sliders

Cheers Bradders.
People keep asking me if the girlfriend is pregnent haha
Ye the drive is quite a change from what im used to, having had an ibiza cupra r and a few alfa 2.4 diesels with dfp removal and remaps the disco is definatley a different kind of vehicle.
I made a similar jump to you joshpmc and my forum name came with me from alfaowner.com
Good luck with the D3. If it helps, with the seat down, you can entertain two in comfort in the back of a Disco...something I bet your mates can do in their cars Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! At 24 I was driving one of these. Crappy pic but it's the right model & colour.
At 21 I think I had a gold Citroen BX but can't be sure...I was running a pub at the time and was too p d most of the time to even drive it Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Bought mine 2 years ago 6 weeks after turning 25.
Left field choice but it's cheaper to insure than any of my mates my ages cars and wins the "I have the most toys" as well.
Enjoy, plus have a read through the wiki for the usual things to check, easy mods and such.

Good for you mate, why follow the herd! Nothing wrong with being different, it's all about taste and being practical. I had a D2 before and wanted to upgrade. At least with these no-one messes with you unlike a repmobile.

Wish I still had it, was one of ten specials out of a total of 400 made for group 4 rallying. Worth a bit of money today.

alfamale - I have seen your user name on a few other posts and did wonder if you were an alfisti, and ye the disco is certainly big enough to 'entertain' haha
AJM - One of the big things that pulled me towards the D3 was the ammount of toys on it and the driving position, insurance isnt too bad on them either!
Andy - The remap was done by a local company called Hyperchips, they did my mums range rover and have done a few others near me and everyone seemed happy with the results. I wanted a BAS map but just couldnt justify the cost at the moment.
Dally - Ye ive noticed that people tend to let me through gaps and get out of the disco's way. I bet you wish you still had that, is it a chevette? My girlfriends dad had 2 mk1 RS2000's when he was younger, he sold one for scrap and let the other go for peanuts and they sell for 25k now! He was gutted when he saw one for sale!

Yea Josh, it was an HSX Chevette, 2300cc 16v twin cam running twin 48s, works manifold etc. Not sure what it would be worth as it was one of ten specials, standard HS go for around £15k with a friends HSR valued at £25k. Would love another but like hens teeth now. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Well ive done a few bits on the disco before winter sets in.
Had the windows tinted 20% from B pillar back and the fronts done to the legal limit.
Fitted the side steps and also the Land Rover lettering to the bonnet.
I will post some pics up at weekend.
