Engine management system / ECU update
When buying computer software you always get updates to have the latest version.
I have talked to my workshop and for my Disco TDV6 Auto, MY08 there seems not to be any routines for updates.
1. How do I know what software versions the car has? When do I know updates are available?
2. Why does the workshop not update to latest version software when servicing.
3. The workshop say they have no routine to update. They have to look separately to every management system (many of them) and check. Apparently when they know of an update is when LR have sent a message of necesary update.
4. Is it important tp update?
5. Can I update myself with a diagnostic tool (IID)
As a 2008 model, yours has most of the "updates" already.

If a certain update is needed, LR will issue a bulletin to dealers and garages on TOPIx the same as for any other procedure.

All these updates carry risk, if the car is working fine, it is always best to leave it alone.
