Is it significant that no one seems to be reporting this wear on 20" wheels and that GG AT's on a 20" wheel would be 275 width.
Does extra width make a difference? MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Has this been seen with any tyres other than GG ATs? If not what's different between ATs and all the other tyres?
Mine didn't have GG ATs on when I got it but one of rims was completely worn away like in Mikey's picture.
That is on standard 18" % spoke.
I can't gaurantee it didn't have ATs on before though.IID PRO

Personally I wouldn't put GG on again but there are a lot of them out there and relativley few people seem to be reporting problems, although it obviously takes some time to show up.2016 D4 Landmark - Waitomo/Ebony

Alloy wheel rim wear
I can confirm I had a rear alloy wheel ( 18 inch SE wheel non GT Grabbers) which also suffered from a very thin split rim edge.
After just getting the car I thought I would refurbish the wheels due to the powder coating starting to flake off. When we broke the tyre bead to our horror we found the metal was split and thin all the way round. You could snap pieces off with your fingers. The Mechanic said he has never seen an Alloy that bad, DANGEROUS.
Managed to get another good wheel from a breaker for £150 including a new GT Grabber lol.
The stealers wanted £400 for one, should be F O C Land Rover.

I can honestly say I've never, ever, seen this and this is from a previous owner of a hometyre tyre fitting business and an alloy wheel repair business!
Irrespective of the tyres fitted an alloy wheel thats fit for purpose should not deteriorate to the point that the rim fails

As a company involved in 4x4 vehicles for over 35 years this is something I
have seen occasionally.
Wear to the inside rim of some alloy wheels, although not common, can occur
in some applications under certain conditions. The condition does not
appear to be related to any single tyre brand or pattern and can occur with
any tyre rim combination.
The primary cause of this is the ingression of abrasive material between
the tyre and rim that, due to the natural movement between the tyre and rim,
acts like a grinding paste on the alloy.
This condition can be minimised by ensuring good tyre maintenance,
including correct tyre pressure, removal of excessive fitting lubricant
and, particularly in applications where the tyre may come into contact with
high levels of dust and debris combined with higher than normal lateral
forces, regular cleaning of the rim and bead area.
Obviously I have not physically seen this specific case but I am only going
by what I have seen and experienced in the past.
If you have a concern regarding this I would visit your local tyre retailer
and get him to check it over for you.
We have seen this with Volvo, Suzuki and a few others so it’s not just unique to L/Rover wheels or
what make of tyre fitted.

I've replaced 4x 19" rims due to GT AT's after 70k (1x set of standard tyres and 2x sets of GT AT's.
Basically worn away the alloy until it's so the alloy cracks on the inside!

What style 19" rims? I've got two sets of the original D3 HSE 19" rims and they're not showing any wear on the inner edges whatsoever, after 9 years of use.
Both sets have run only Pirelli Scorpion tyres, Zero's and ATR's.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

What tyre pressures were you running?
I can't see salted roads over there helping much either. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

They were the SE spec rims on a 2011 D4.
You will probably find that most typical D4 owners with GT AT's wont have any issues, but if you spend allot of your time offroad in sandy soil, frequent towing of heavy trailers, aggressive driving style etc, will almost certainly wear our the rims at a faster rate.
