Depends on the size of your dogs (I only have 1), but I have one of these which cost me £50 or so and it's strapped to the anchor points in the back....gives plenty of room for stuff on the other side:

Got it off eBay, just do a search for dog cage, came with bowls & Bed - notice I have a picnic blanket covering the bottom tail door - so all mud/sand/mess goes on there when he jumps in
