Recovering a car to the UK from Chambery,mFrance

Afternoon,
Having a tussle with Britannia regarding sorting out a broken down Tonka in Chambery. Still waiting to hear what they will do - whether replace alternator but then I have to come down and drive back it back (not my preferred option), or re-covering to a local garage to me in the UK.
Has anyone ever done this before, and ideas about likely costs?
Thanks,
Duncan

Expensive, is the simple answer. Companies like On time do car repatriation and costs are high. Easycar used to be in Kent and they run Europe with car transporters. I know of a few owner drivers that run out there a lot but expect £600 plus. Stephen Hogg is on uship.com and runs all europe he's a good bloke and not too far from you. He'd give you a good idea of cost.

Many thanks, will have a frank discussion with Brittania especially after the frankly lack luster performance whilst down in France.

United Kingdom

Is this an actual Tonka truck or do you mean a disco?!

If it can get repaired in france flying or train-ing over and driving back is often the cheapest option albeit it needs a day off work Sad

Hi - no Tonka is what the kids named it when it was bought approx 10 years ago 😄 .
It's probably cheaper, but just back from France and not that keen to travel back down ago, if I can get the French insurance to be generous.
Cheers,
Duncan
