I'll almost certainly have my lad with me, not sure about the rest of the clan, depends on what else is on. Oldest daughter didn't really take to the off-roading, but made me a lovely father's day card whilst the rest of us (including my 3-1/2 yo) were doing the winching workshop at Rockingham whilst she sat in the car How To ? - Change your Brake Disks Pads Shoes Sensors

Hurrah! I can make it this time, so thanks for organising this again
Please remind me - easy(ish) route - Steps or no Steps? I.e. if I leave my steps on will I need a couple of fellow pillow smugglers to jump up and down on them to get the doors open afterwards? The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and assistance to foreign lands should
be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."

possibly !!
I think buckingham or NoDo$h had side steps and ended up that he could'nt get out of the car because the mud/clay had stuck to the side steps and jammed the door closed
I also think they bent up a bit !! Duncan

Good to see we have some takers for the "Not so easy" route.
BE AWARE that part of this route will be ROUGH. 4ft deep lane with 1ft + ruts and little side clearence. Have a look at some of the previous trips pics, especially the ones of d3matt and his defender getting stuck. You will need to be towed / winched through a lot of the lane and be very very careful of side/bumper damage.
If you havnt seen the Lane from Hell, ask someone who has ....
I will be taking my defender to ensure we can get through and recover and stuck D3s .
NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. You will need to be Cooler than ICONIX to make it through this lane..... Duncan

Thanks Duncan, I'll go and dig out the steps removal instructions... The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and assistance to foreign lands should
be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."

Duncan, is the easy/not so easy choice in stone or if you go for easy will you be able to have a go at some of the 'not so easy' bits if desired?
it's all questions isn't it ? 'resistance is futile!'

Easy, isnt neccesserellylylyllylylyl (cant spell it !!!) EASY. The lanes will be similar to the ones we did a few weeks ago but by the end of Sept should be a lot wetter and slippier.
the more difficult lanes will include the lane from hell and the hill climbs which in Sept will be a lot more difficult and no scope to back out. Those with road tyres will really struggle on the more extreme route.
Most of the lanes forboth groups will be a challenge. The more difficult route will include lots of mud/ruts and getting stuck (and will take longer to get unstuck)
Basically (weather permitting):
Easy, nice drive around, get stuck, get pulled out with a few ropes etc, (suitable for those with limited experience)
Not So Easy, nice drive, get stuck for a lot longer, lots of rope, winching, mud wading and stress as you worry about damaging your D3 !! (Experienced only)
I'm not trying to put people off, you just need to be aware of the risks..... Duncan
