the brake reservoir seems to be ok, The brake fluid did catch fire gives off a nice green flame.
sorry it was the throttle cable not speedo, it must have touched the metal part of the brake reservor and earthed the whole brake system maybe?????
By the way it was good old britsh mountain water from tesco.. Focus ST500

Tesco Value Pack water at 17p. Works better than a fire extinguisher!
Also made me realise that a standard size car fire extinguisher just isn't large enough. I will get a much larger one. Matt

Thanks Chris
Thought it was too good to be true that something French would put out a British item that was on fire
Good luck with the rebuild and soooo glad there were so many helping hands so close to limit the carnage. corruptissima re publica plurimae leges

Duncan / Mrs Dunc
My thanks for another great day & thanks to Buckingham for leading us.
Still can't believe I got stuck in that titchy little mudhole
Car was an absolute pig to drive with all the mud on the wheels, so there's a jetwash somewhere near bristol that now has a big pile of grey stuff on it D3 number 3: 08 TDV6 SE Stormygrey /owlpacker
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead now disintegrated - but its got a full service history!
