Should I be struggling?!
To me this looks like it should be an easy challenge for the D3 but it struggled to the point where it wouldn't go forward any more and I had to reverse back out. Even when backing out it slid right against the hedge and wouldn't move from it! You can see how close I was to reversing into that concrete thing because I couldn't go any other way!! I thought the D3 with Pirelli ATR's would breeze through this and only be stopped by very deep mud!
Unless of course it's driver error and I'm doing it all wrong

You can't overcome physics .....momentum and gadgets may help but as soon as there's no traction... then there's no traction 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

No, thats looks like very slippery clay, that simply fills the treads and you are stuffed. I don't think anything other than momentum would get you through that.
Had similar on Wednesday at our duck shoot- managed to get out in reverse - a tad embarasingat the time but as I managed to free myself didnt count it as a failure.I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Ah, good old slick wet mud. As said, even a car on MTs would have struggled & could have quite well failed. Momentum would be key but could well have put you into somewhere you didn't want to go. This site is littered with similar threads so not the first and won't be the last. I'd have looked at that track and mentally gulped. Only thing that wouldn't struggle would be the Farmer Giles tractor.

Doesn't help straddling the tractor tracks either,
I if you get into one of the ruts it's a nightmare to get out from.
As it's a stubble field why not go further out away from the edge? Maybe a bit drier and if you did start slipping floor it to gain momentum
Get out and have a look before driving into ( potential) disaster.

Thanks all for the replies
It's good to know that it was right to struggle in that mud, I think sometimes I just expect a bit much from it! I did initially set off further out in the field but I think there may have been a huge magnet in the hedge as I just kept being drawn closer to it no matter where I steered, until I was stuck tight against it!!
I don't worry too much about getting stuck there as the farmer is only two minutes away and always willing to drag me out and then laugh, not before taking a photo of course! My dad is also only five minutes away with his 90 so I can be a bit reckless up there! I might pop back later in my dad's 90 as he has MT tyres and see how that deals with the same patch!

Did you turn off DSC?
I've found that turning that off has helped me through a few muddy sections.

Its difficult, it will slide as there is just no grip, but try mud ruts and no traction control to make progress.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Not sure if would have made any difference at all. A good few times been in similar, all settings right, on muds and wheels just spinning to the point of getting VEHICLE WILL LOWER warning. When there's no grip, there's no grip.

Unless you ticked the Invincibility Option Pack when you (or first owner) bought it.
Lots of peeps assume the D3 is invincible, however it does have it's Achilles Heel and you found it. Still, could have been worse. It could have been raining.
