Problem discovery 3 auto help needed !! |
|
New to this site and new to a disco 3 any help appreciated.
Discovery 3 tdv6 2.7 2005 auto
First problem go to pull away and sounds like wheel wants to rip off, horrible sound then abs and hill descent light comes on then drives fine, other posts state abs sensor but the sound seems loud and serious until lights on,
Second problem, can only be described as clutch slip on an auto mainly when first started and hit a hill, only owned car 2 weeks and list of faults are endless these are the two more serious ones.
If main dealers wasn't so expensive I'd just throw it at them. I'm from Dudley West Midlands and struggling to find a good d3 specialist.

Hi Paulhdisco3
Don't worry mate, there are plenty of guys here who can help out and get your grin back on.
I'm always amazed at how well these members know the car. Bear with it and someone will be along to help.
BTW welcome to the forum. FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!
D4 HSE 2012 Like a second wife, more expensive but goes better! I almost cried this time!
D3 HSE 2006 (Almost 8 years together, true love)
Land Cruiser VX 1994 11 years together, wife cried when I p/ex'd for my D3

Not sure about your horrible noise, suggest you jack it up and look for loose wheels, wheel bearings or suspension components.
As for the gearbox, you probably need to read THIS THREAD
A bit more info about car, mileage, general condition might help.

Did you buy it privately or from trade? If latter then it's their problem.

For the first issue I'd be checking:
1. Brake discs and pads and callipers
2. EPB (Parking brake)
3. Wheel bearings all round
4. ABS Sensors
For the second issue I'd be guessing towards torque convertor or similar.
Hopefully the couple of points I've given you there will be enough to get checking whilst you wait for one of the real experts to come along MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)
Prospeed rock/tree sliders w/steps
HSE Winter wheels
TransK9 B24
Travall Cargo Guard
Hatchbag
