Well it's MOT day here for me and my D3.
I hate this day, every year I spend it pacing up and down the office like a mad man expecting some call to come through with terrible news about how I have to part with huge lumps of cash in order to get my car back.
This year I'm still nervous but am calmed a little by the fact I've spent quite a bit on keeping her maintained this year and no expense has been spared.
Since last MOT it has had replaced:
- Alternator
- Front Lower Arms
- Rear Upper Arms
- Front Track Rod Ends
- Front Offside Hub
- Front Disks + Pads (both sides)
- Rear Pads
- 2 Sidelight Bulbs
- 1 Headlight Bulb
- 2 Brake Bulbs (only one went but replaced pair with genuine)
- 5 New Tyres
- 4 Alloys refurbed
It's just hit 91,000 Miles on a 56 plate so I'm hoping there's nothing major to jump out and bite me on the rear (Cambelt etc was done Oct 2013) It also had a minor service back in last September and is having a more comprehensive one done this morning before the MOT.
12 O'clock is the magic hour.... heart is pounding already.

After all that work you would hope it would sail through, although it still doesn't stop the worrying! Fingers crossed it all goes ok!

I must have been lucky coz my D3 never had anything like the amount of work in a year and sailed through every year. Never had an advisory either. I carried out all maintenance as and when required and sold it after 8 years and 105,000 miles. Think positive mate, she'll be ok. FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!
D4 HSE 2012 Like a second wife, more expensive but goes better! I almost cried this time!
D3 HSE 2006 (Almost 8 years together, true love)
Land Cruiser VX 1994 11 years together, wife cried when I p/ex'd for my D3

Well she passed the MOT with only one advisory: "Excessive play in rear offside lower rose joint" which the dealer has booked me in for a check in 6 months time as they say it's fine.
Service picked up a binding rear caliper which was cured with some new slider pins and they also stripped and adjusted the EPB as well.
In all it only cost me an extra £54.95 so very pleased indeed!

Scarab.
My D3 is also coming up for a MOT. (also 91k miles! lol)
I live near you and took mine to Terrain vehicles last week to diagnose some strange handling.
They also said the inner and outer trackrods need doing. Also slight play in the rear rose joints too, but not MOT failure amount of play.
I this who you use?
What should i expect to pay for the trackrod ends to be replaced?
Simon.
