Not too intriguing I hope but I admit the process is akin to a Masonic ritual of buttons and ignition switching. I'm away from my PC so I will post a guide tomorrow if someone else hasn't by then.

what does it alter mechanically ? - to take up backlash etc as has been suggested
mines an auto & has some "shunt" looseness at low speedsBREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Also puzzled
What does the transfer box ECU recalibration actually do? I thought this just resets the movement limits for selecting high and low ratio?

. Switch ignition to position II without the engine running
. Select automatic or manual transmission neutral
. Depress the throttle pedal fully
. Press and hold the range change switch for 5 or more seconds to allow calibration to start
. When the calibration is heard to start, the switch and throttle pedal can be released
. Upon adopting high range, start the engine and wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in high
range is done. While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Start engine
. Perform a range change to low range. Wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in low range is done.
While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Range and clutch calibration is now complete.

Calibrated mine a few times, makes a huge difference. Driveline shunt is all but gone

It is the procedure as stated in the workshop manual. I've no idea if it is MY or software specific though. Not sure if there is something similar for the D4 but I will check.

Unless I'm doing something really stupid it doesn't work in my MY8.5
The only ambiguous stage could be the pressing of the range change switch in step 4, presume as it's already in High then I would press and hold for 5 seconds in the Low direction? but calibration never starts, not a sound

so if your in low range how do you get it back to high range, use that button directions!!!
(Non-Landrover driver here, so dont know the process) Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!
