Changed the bonnet struts and fitted a new battery... seems like a new beast now!
Having had to jump the car every time I needed it over the last week or so the bonnet not staying open on it's own annoyed me enough to buy a new set of gas struts... why I hadn't replaced them sooner I don't know! Doddle to fit and not exactly expensive either!

Ok so parts used
Navtv unit from Nav.tv
REV-EVO16 £249
Video in motion from xcarlink
SKU148106 £99
Standard power converter 12v to 240v
HDMI to rgb convertor £20 amazon
Apple TV 4th gen £139
The two video modules run straight into the screen
Oem screen wiring into navtv unit>video in motion>screen
Navtv unit into reverse parking cable (purple) oem parking lead into unit
New video input run down left hand side of centre console
I originally used the Apple TV 3rd gen and wired the video input into the upper glove box
The red and white stereo leads then plugged into the aux in but the sound quality isn't great
It picks up a lot of cross talk and the buzz through the speakers whilst livable really wound me up.
ATV 4th gen connects via Bluetooth to the head unit so the sound quality is as good as if you were using your phone
(The phone is still connected via Bluetooth for the phone and takes over if a call comes in.
The power convertor, hdmi convertor is all fixed under the passenger seat powered by the rear 12v socket
Apple TV is mounted between centre console and passenger seat with double sided Velcro
(The remote needs line of sight so my original idea of chucking everything beneath the 2nd row seats didn't work unless you reach down and point the apple flicker under the seat)
I then had to set up ATV in the house
Once it's done all it's updates I had to change the resolution to rgb high
If you don't do this before you put it in the car it won't display
The hdmi convertor is powered via 5v USB, this cleans up the image a little and sends a hdcp signal back to ATV (things like Netflix don't like the signal being converted)
Everything is connected to my in car wifi dongle for mostly constant 4g
Hope that helps

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.
So today, battery out transmission module out and opened up, all nice and clean/dry. opened and cleaned all connectors I could see. Battery back in truck starts, within 4 mins hazzards on, christmas tree dash, lots of faults. umm it did stop a bit while I closed the drivers door, not sure if that was just random.
So next set of connectors to look at under the rear N/S arch. Loosen wheels nuts, bang, thunder and hail storm.
Abandon and retreat to inside to look on here for more idea's.
A few hours later, back to it.. Seems someone has been here before, anyway found the 3 connectors, took wheel off to make it easier. White connector came apart without releasing the clip.. umm but this I think is not a CANBUS connector. Anyway take them all apart give them a dam good clean and inspect the wiring for breaks.. No breaks seen.. put it all back together, battery re-connected and it starts.
Leave it running for 15 mins, all still good, clear faults.. still good !! could this be it !! fingers crossed.*D3 V8 SE Blue 2004 on LPG with Rock sliders, roof rack/Ladder, snorkel, 275/65x18 STT Muds, engine/G/box ally protection.
