I've just been to see it there, looking rather sorry for itself. All they said was they've found 'further extensive damage' and that everything had been 'pushed back'. What that's suppose to mean I don't know, but I have to contact the powers that be to obtain the damage report.D3 TDV6 XS

Hi Nathan
Was your D3 assessed before the initial authorisation from the insurance company before giving the go ahead that it would be repaired, as I find it odd that it would have the repairs authorised and then the repairer have now found more damage and say it now not a viable to repair.

Hi Sudds,
To be honest I can't answer that. It's my first bump so it's still all new to me. Basically last week I heard nothing after the initial phone call with the insurers on the day of the crash, so I phoned the garage where I knew the Discovery was at and they confirmed that they had priced up the parts and what have you and sent the estimation of £5,800 off to the insurance company. The day after the insurance phoned to say they were going to authorise the repairs. After hearing nothing for a week I phoned the garage yesterday for a progress report and they said they found further extensive damage and that it was beyond economical repair and declared a total loss, which the insurance confirmed shortly after. I went over yesterday to the compound to have a look for myself and gather what was left, I did ask for it to be pulled back so I could take some photos but they said the insurance have what they need and that it didn't drive very well.
So now I'm just waiting for the 'engineers' to call next week, and start the settlement game which I think is going to be a long drawn to process as I've a feeling they are going to offer me something stupid.

Hi Nathan
Sorry to hear that. When someone ran into SWMBO a few years ago, I knew it would be wrote off as the airbags had gone off. I looked on autotrader and a few other publications to look at market prices. I was surprised when the offer come through and it was a fair one.
I know a lot of us on here spend a tidy amount on their D3/4's modifying them, but you it will only be valued as it came out of the factory and any extra expense will not be taken into account unfortunately, but that is a chance we all take when adding extras.
Hope it all works out for you and you get a satisfactory result. Will you stay with Disco's ?. If you do let me know and I will keep a look out for you as I am just up the road from you at Rushpool Hall.

Hey up Sudds,
I thought I was the only Cleveland member on here! Unfortunately I don't know whether I'll be staying in the Disco club, Im dreading what the settlement offer is going to be next week. I've been looking at afew prices for SE with similar miles and to be honest I don't think it could of been at a worse time. With summer coming up it looks like prices are at rock bottom. Even then, I still won't get back the new wheels, the servicing costs, timing belt, bushes, prop shaft etc, all that costing that went into it last year. Absolutely gutted to say the least!
Anyway, enough of the sob story. I've been to see two now, both not in the best condition and somewhat over priced. Just gotta wait and see what they offer next week!

Fingers crossed they come back with a good offer. Plenty come up on here for sale that have been well looked after. Do you not still have your original wheels, maybe you could explain to the insurance company and they may let you swap them back.
I have the stealth forum stickers on mine that have a built in cloaking device as I have never been spotted in either of my Disco's, and I have only ever spotted two others around here
You could try refusing the settlement and asking them to provide a similar replacement. I believe that's what PaganUK did when his D3 got lifted and they found him a crackin' replacement. Might be worth dropping him a PM.

Looking at what some of the 05 models have been advertised on here, I‘d say that‘s a great offer - I think there is a 05 on sale here at the moment for £7000......may not be what you want, but gives you a guide....can‘t find the link at the moment though

Just put my 05 HSE into WBAC, came back at £5,110 excluding body damage...
Admittedly, it has 158k on it, but even 2 years ago with 115k, it was only £7,500 ishMy D3 Build Thread
