You can get a slightly smaller socket and hammer it in then undo it. Best to use an impact socket. But any old socket can do it .
Might be an idea to order new ones before you get them off so the wheels are supported proerly. Just a thought .
Just don't order locking ones again. You can get a set from most D3 owners scrap pile as they saw the light and threw them away. Advanced Factors (sponsor on here) can post you some proper ones.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Most tyre fitting centres, even Kwik Fit , will have tools for removing broken wheel nuts. Try your local tyre bay, they'll have it sorted in no time, you won't be the first and certainly won't be the last. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

time for normal grinding wheel on a dremel and split the nut off, then chap on a smaller socket and undo with all good bolts tight on the wheel!

+1 for knocking an old socket over the defective locking wheel nut - done this on both my D3's now but always have a replacement ready!!
Works a treat once you got them banged on tight.

The dreaded locking wheel nut...sorted
What a b d of a job
Eventually managed to get the stainless cover off the wheel nut thanks to the help a of a friendly garage welding a nut on ( this wasn't the intention as we all thought the whole nut would come free..job done..ooh no)
It was then the considered opinion that the stud /nut was cross threaded and we would need a new stud
A quick call to Stephen at AF and I find out that the studs are not sold singly only a as a complete hub!
Stephen suggested putting a note on here to see if anyone had one lying around(as you do)
However before that I contacted
Locking Wheel Nut Removal service in Birmingham run by John, to cut a long story a bit shorter, just been over and by the careful application of various sizes of Irwin bolt removers the nut came free
I can thoroughly recommend John who operates a mobile call out as well and is very reasonable on price
He can be contacted through his web site
www.lockingwheelnut-removal.co.uk
I can now go and get my new ATR's fitted
Locking wheel nuts disposed of!
Thanks to all for the comments and help

Every LR owner should have a set of Irwin bolt removers in their tool kit.
