I am delighted to inform you that the delightful car eating dog isactually my daughters Weimaraner puppy but I use the word puppy in a loose sense. I dog sit to help out sometimes and Geoff is convinced it will become my dog sooner or later. The car muncher is back with me on Sunday for 5 weeks whilst my daughters RAF pilot husband has fun in some new aircraft. Forum member Ken previously warned me about Weimaraners appetite, getting a nose on and " table surfing" all of which I am now familiar with. Having destroyed my garden and left my house in disarray on its last 2 week visit I'm looking forward to some more stress and general clearing up. I thought I had done the right thing and bought a full dog guard on the forum but said Weimaraner took its revenge and ate the 3rd row seat belts which Geoff replaced. So far it has cost me hundreds of pounds to look after my daughters " puppy" and no doubt much more in the ensuing weeks. All said and done Geoff is probably right - I will end up with the Weimi because I think my daughter has taken on too big a challenge and also because he's a lovely dog and, anyway, that's what dads do!

Our Weimaraner is nearly 10 & still behaves like a puppy, the name Morgan often translates to close sounding alternatives Paul.

I took the Weimi to my old vet recently and the vet told me that they were particularly stupid dogs. I had to take a double look at the vet as I find them very quick to learn and far from stupid. Headstrong yes and slightly aloof at times. That's probably why I get on well with the dog........

Exceptionally intelligent but cunningly disguised as being ignorant & appearing to be stupid, eg, you throw the ball, they look confused whilst really thinking f k you, you threw it you go & get it!
Love the breed to bits, Mirgan us our 3rd, we also have a Hungarian Wire Haired Vizsla & her 9 1/2 week old puppy, awesome temprement, biddable & eager to please. Paul.

The retrieving bit is surprisingly good but endless until he gets bored so I know what you mean.
We have a slight problem in local parks, which are huge but well populated, whereby the Weimi, Stanley by name, will chase his ball but will also chew up any 4 year old's ball he comes across. I have to divert on many occasions to avoid any "conflict". Any advice for a 6 month old Weimi would be appreciated even though I, generally, manage him quite well I think you can never know enough. He is certainly a different challenge than the Labs and Spaniels I had previously.
