Well, I picked up the compressor from screw fix today, got it back home and realised it had a quick release fitting where the hose they sold me with it doesn't...
So back to Screwfix to get more fittings and convert it to a permanent fit for the hose. get the hose attached with a tyre inflator fitted just to test the compressor.....
Buuuuuzz click! The motor doesn't even turn and the thermal cutout kicks in after 3-4 seconds.... so back to Screwfix again and picking up another compressor tomorrow
I tell you this, if those bolts don't come off with an impact wrench then my angle grinder is gonna be seeing some action!!!what is this life, if full of care?

Negotiations went sour, diplomacy was suspended... out came the angle grinder....

Pneumatic impact wrench was useless, But at least I have a new prop on now and the compressor will come in handy for other things...what is this life, if full of care?

Quite a lump of metal to grind through.

Hmm this is slightly off-putting for my DIY abilities.
In theory, if the bolts come out, is it a simple pull out and replace with new part?

Here comes the dumb question from the 150k miles D3 2005 owner that is trying to spot and replace aging parts before they fail .....
What part is that?
Then I will go have a look at mine 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

It is the thing that makes the noisy thing at the front turn the 2 round things at the back.

the only problem is that the bolts on the UJ are hard to get to with any decent sized breaker bar... once i sliced the UJ off and gave myself more room to maneuver the breaker bar worked like a charm.
After that you just have to wriggle the new one in and torque it up.what is this life, if full of care?
