First Breakdown
My first breakdown, had the D3 for over 3 years and had a few things go wrong but non that stopped me moving, till Tuesday this week
Off to work (it's a term I use lightly as I'm a beer taster at Molson Coors in Burton )
I notice that temp gauge was showing Oc which was odd cos it was mild, bit further battery light is on, so I press on not wishing to let my employer down and make it fine about 16miles
On return journey elect back roads rather than M42 and get to within 5 miles of the garage and I get a full house of warning lights and then nothing at all, no engine electrics etc
I had already guessed alternator failure
Warning triangle out and wait for recovery, the number of drivers that drove virtually up to the warning triangle and then swerved was amazing, the triangle was visible for a clear 50m, and then the scowl for breaking down in such a inconsiderate place
Long story short picked the D3 up yesterday new alternator fitted total cost £443 including recovery all bar £50 covered by Warranty Direct.
I have claimed from them before and have found them to be efficient and decent, I have had warranty cover with them for 3 years and reckon I am down about £400 over that period which I think ain't bad for piece of mind if something major lets go
Does this now qualify me as a true LR driver

That's really good to hear (not the break down bit obviously) about the Warranty direct cover.
I've got a Supercharged Range Rover and the wifes Audi Cab covered by them, certainly not cheap but I'm reliably informed you get what you pay for in the warranty world!
I'm looking out for a D3 to do sone travelling in so I reckon I'll bite the bullet and drop that on cover too!

TBH, I wouldn't expect any quibbles over a simple alternator failure. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Hi Rich
I'm in the sensory area obviously, where are you based?
D3 is without doubt the best car I've had by far, and this forum is the font of all knowledge

Good luck with the hunt for a D3, as you will know the forum is a pretty good place to find well looked after examples
I am in Tues,Wed & Thurs morning so if you see a silver D3 in the carpark with detango'd lights it's probably me

You would think.......and generally it is. But we have to be verified and tested periodically and that involves identifying taints in beer using samples that have been messed with. One flavour in particular could put you off for life! RAW will know exactly what I'm talking about lol
