In need of a steering rack, anyone help |
|
Im gutted
I had planned on changing the power steering pump today as the pump has a constant noise when turning , a bit like when you hold the wheel on full lock,
But I've now noticed that the rack has a massive amount of play so I'm thinking this is now the cause,
But advanced factors is shut and I've tried the others I can think off
Anyone have one laying around near Hampshire ?

what im hoping is that advanced factors will be on the forum have on in stock and volunteer opening up so i can go get it, 2005 D3 SE Auto

Thanks Geoff
New rack fitted that was easy
But although probably doesn't need it I'm still going to change the pump
Well that is if I can get the fan off
I read this forum and the Haynes manual that the thread is opposite to normal
Ie clockwise to undo
I've also seen u tube clips but of the disco2 they show it coming off as a normal thread
I can't get this thing off either way
I've got the tools from Advanced , managed to snap the bolt on the locking tool
I'm stuck any suggestions for getting it off
I've tried the hammer
I'm still smiling for now 2005 D3 SE Auto

Fan is a left hand thread so Clockwise takes it off, you may have to strike the spanner sharply to shock it off, some are very tight

Steering rack all done PSF topped up
Still makes the same noise so I'm guessing it was the pump all along despite the rack being Bradley worn,
I Gave up with the pump as the pump I got was damaged and I couldn't get that fan off thats on good a proper .
Tried heat, hammer, some swear words and still wouldn't come off
Thanks For the help
