MOT Fail - more money, need to rant for a bit!!!!
ok, so before I start, I‘m sure most of this rant is related to her failing the MOT......so please take with a pinch of salt
Failed on badly corroded rear brake pipes (Dangerous), sticking rear brake calliper, front ball joint, and headlight out (well I can live with that one ).
This will be another wad of money added to the £6500 already spent on her in the 18 months I‘ve owned it (excluding the mods which were my choice)
Took me 1hr to walk back from the MOT centre, and did a load of thinking - my feeling is to look for something else...
But my issues are:
- What on earth can I replace her with, will not have much cash on top of what I get for it, so need a 4x4 that‘s reliable for about £15k....it‘ll also need to be able to tow the sankey
- Every time I get into her, I‘m filled with the joy of it being one of the best cars in the world - I want to keep her
- Every time I get into her, I‘m also filled witht he thoughts of "What will break next
- Work may soon force me into the office 5 days a week (currently 1), which will add 1000 miles a month
ok, I need to stop now, rant over.....if it‘s fixed in time, I‘m actually off camping tomorrow with the Sankey so perhaps all will feell much better after that
Off now to go and lie-down for a bit in a dark room

People spend a ton of cash on their D3s and then loose heart and sell them just at the point where they have fixed almost all common faults. For the next couple of years the next owner is a very happy chappy - just saying.

Sorry, still lying down in a Dark room.......
Before I went to my "place of darkness" I saw SWMBO and ranted about the D3 (I think I should add that she hates driving it) and was told....and I quote
Quote:
Don't be silly, you love that car and it's not as if you can take the money with you!
I hate to admit it, but I think she's right (Yet again )Iggy/Ieuan

She knows me too well.....knows about every £ I've spent, even though I think I've got away with it, but she hardly ever mentions it to me
OK, I feel I'm getting out of my depression.....well at least until I have to pay later today
Thanks for your support, I think the wobble is soon to end and at this rate I may have a D3 with mostly new parts Iggy/Ieuan

All age associated parts Igs, "its not unusual" no mater what you have at the age they would need similar,"she's a lady" and we all know the cost a few quid now then, don't let this latest expenditure "make a big man cry"
As for changing her and leaving the fold "its cold outside" and I think you'd miss her greatly especially when it comes to pulling that "sixteen tonnes" of Sankey and camping gear

I know how you feel! Took mine for a free health check the week after buying what I thought had already had most issues sorted, and was told a list of issues costing over £3.5 to fix. Was tempted to just auction it off but thought I'd carry on, and has cost me about 3k in the last 8 months, with injectors and gearbox/TC still to come plus suspension so another £4k or so, and fixing the door mirror Oh and yes, the rear brake pipes in the next year. Will soon be getting into D4 territory the amount spent haha.
Any more space in that dark room??

The 'darkness' room is free now, feel free to use it
Quick update....brake pipes and CV joint done
Rear offside brake calliper and piston are as stuck as a stuck thing that has just fallen onto a bucket of thick sticky material Seized solid........he needs it overnight to try and 'un-stick' before replacing
No idea of £'s involved yet and camping plan is to leave tomorrow @ 2pm
On the plus side, I'm out of my depression.....all is fine with the world and back loving the Disco - Big thanks to SWMBO and Beanie for his Tom Jones references Iggy/Ieuan
