Torque Converter ... how easy to fit ?

Blissfully ignorant of all mechanical stuff but learning .... apologies for what be a really daft question .. Wink

The Torque Converter ..... fitting options Whistle

I realize in advance the D3 needs to be lifted and its a box off job and its heavy ....

However you can get them for £468 plus VAT ...

http://www.bristoltransmissions.co.uk/shop...product=72

But then for days fitting its another £500 ..... that's bring the question a day or two's labour £500 ?

Can it be done ...... if a place to lift and help from suitable equipment be sourced ... or is it a leave well alone kinda thing Laughing

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

If it was me, I would get Bristol Transmissions to fit it for you, that way if there is an issue in the future as they guarantee their work. Plus when they have it apart if they find anything else on its way out they will tell you.

They rebuilt my box and fitted a new TC last Sept and its like a new car now.

Dale - how bad was you gearbox? was it a slight judder?

I'm not sure what to do - flush or rebuild - I keep missing out on the flush's in the Midlands.

Also out of interest how long did they keep your car for.

Cheers

They had the car for 2 days and the judder was only a little at first so I put some Dr Tranny in it and it was grand until I took the caravan to France and then it was really bad even without the caravan. Took it to BT and they checked it out and the TC needed to be replaced and the gearbox needed to be rebuilt.

Since the rebuild its been as smooth as silk and getting better MPG (22 or so with the caravan and 26+ without, sometimes 31).

After some considerations and discussions, mine is now booked in with Steve Norman who has a TC ready. Current plan is to go for a body off job and get some other bits done too. Thumbs Up

Might be worth having a word with him and he can explain the situation with you. Wink
