I struggle to relate to critisism of MPG meters. My first car with one was a Citroen XM in the mid 90's and my most recent has been the current FL2. Tests over around 1,000 miles, comparing computer to brim to brim tests, on both of them showed them to be accurate to one, or even two, decimal places.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: FL2 as a second car
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

Got to love Man Maths! We had male math's teachers, why did they never teach it at school?

Audi make a great car without doubt.but
You might regret going for the S line unless you do mainly motorway miles as the ride is rock hard. Particularly after a disco. Other than that they are brill. I had A6 s one s line one standard and i would have another audi without hesitation but personally not the s lineMY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

You'll have another Disco when you're retired. Fewer miles to do and glad of all those jobs that need doing in the garage. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

In 2009, in the depths of the recession, when fuel was at its most expensive, and we bought our new D3 for £28k, Jeep were selling off 3.7 litre petrol, Grand Cherokee autos for £9k less. I was very tempted, but the visibility was terrible, the cabin claustrophobic and SWMBO swore she'd never drive it. Even after spending an extra £2k on fuel, by now, it would have been like getting a horse and trailer thrown in for nothing. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

Works for me ........... you'll be back.
In the meantime, good luck.
Ah and there was me thinking you still had your D4 Ron.
Hmm, be back to the brand, I very much doubt it to be honest.
LR are pricing themselves way out the running nowadays. In the past 17 years the Discovery has more than double in price from the very last of the original 300tdi's.

Oh all my own way there DD lol. I'm single, never married and quite happy to keep it that way. Easier letting them go back to their place and then I get peace the rest of the time lol.ATB

Mark, so far so good The S Line hasn't been a troublesome car to drive. Quite nice actually having the lowered ride height & tuned dampeners. Corners very nice instead of leaning over like a rowing boat at sea lol.
I'd have liked the A6, but the A4 was ideal for what I need it for, well at the present anyway.
It's just that I'm starting all over again with adding to the car lol.ATB

So the Audi also has a lieometer installed?
Yeah still to work out just how many lies it tells, but it isn't going to be as good at telling tall talks as the Discovery was lol.
95 miles on £10 of diesel, broke down to about 43MPG.
Even at the worst, I'm still getting 2:1 against what my Disco3 V6 gave me around the doors etc. Best economy was in April this year. A run up to Cape Wrath and back to Pitlochry on a full tank of fuel, 508miles, about 30 mpg if I remember correctly.ATB
