Could be as well as damage to the arms / hub as has had enough force to brake the rack .

Hi DSL
It's moving in the right direction
Had a letter from 3rd party insurance offering replacement courtesy car. They would like to give courtesy car themselves and have want to, depending on engineer assessment either repair the car or make an offer in event of write off in which case they would also offer the car back at salvage value....so that was good.
But it would seem it is all such a big carve up.
I phoned my insurance to report it. It then got passed to a company called Car Repair Network who then passed it onto Action 365 to handle on their behalf they then passed it onto Accident Exchange to handle on their behalf. And as of today the 3rd party insurance would like to deal with me direct....seems clear why that is...would save them all those markups from intermediaries. ..
Anyway car got picked by company called M&a Coachwork after I insisted I do not want the car to be handled by any repairshop. Coachwork deal in full repair both bodywork and mechanical for prestige marque's including LR amongst others such as Aston Martin, Bentley etc...
Originally they had passed the repair to body shop garage who seemed to deal in body repair only....needless to say I was not happy about that after initial checked the workshop out. After insisting I wanted any repair work done by someone who knows these cars.
Accident Exchange then arranged for mechanical work to be done by Harwood Landrover explaining that Golsmotors only ever do body repair. So I thought I would phone Gold to let him know that I am happy for him to do the body work repair and then pass the car to Harwood. ..well surprise surprise he was having none of it that is when it got passed to Coachworks.
So current position is that I am waiting for estimate of works and engineers assessment report.
So do you think I should take up the 3rd party offer to deal direct or continue as it is??

Thanks DSL
Sorry Disco-Mikey
Think might be needing a spec savers eye test...that's the thing with phone screens everything looks so small on the screen and fat fingers don't help either
You've done everything right so far. As DM says, accident management companies are Satan's disciples on earth. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Take Mikes advice and as posted earlier with my experience with Albion assistance it was nightmare from hell with bullying tactics. Third party insurance did warn me and wish I took there offer on dealing with it. Accident management companies will say that if you take up the offer for third party insurance to repair vehicle it will not to be same standard. Be warned.D3 TDV6 S MY2005

Second that, after speaking to an accident management company who was handling a claim for me, I phoned the 3rd party insurer direct and asked if they wanted to do it themselves as it could not have been any worse!Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Just to echo what others have said, have twice dealt with 3rd party insurers (fortunately over damage to our other car not the D3) and have been happy with the result both times. Last time the approved bodyshop for Diamond turned out to be an excellent place who were doing amazing work on Porsches, Jags and a Range Rover and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
Hope your D3 can be mended!

Well the vote of confidence to deal direct with 3rd party has been unanimously backed and has given me the confidence to deal directly with them.
Cheers fellas for the advice. Will keep you posted.

I dealt through Accident exchange, they were fine, but they are part of the reason premiums are so high!Joined the BMWX5 45e group
