Mike lots about it on the internet with customer complaints especially with getting a bill for a courtesy vehicle a year later as insurance companies refuse to pay for over inflated hire charges. I regretted it after the third party insurance said to google Albion assistance and the courtesy car was handed back quickly. D3 TDV6 S MY2005

When I used them (I didn't really realise I was, it was Mitchell Inglis that put them onto me) they were fine and I had a great curtesy car. I think if you google any insurance company then you will find lots of negative results, as with everything, you just need to know the facts and possibilities before you get into it. Dave it is not the insurance that we are critisising but the management assist that the insurance companies pass onto to deal with third party claims. Agree some people it goes smoothly as third party insurance settle all including cost of courtesy car arrange by manage assist. My issue was the third party insurance queried the length of time we had the courtesy car and apparently Albion Assist billed the third party insurance for 4 weeks hire when we only had a courtesy car for 7 days plus the bullying tactics if we let the third party insurance deal with the claim on our behalf. Everybody is in to make a few quid when it comes to dealing with claims. Put it down to experiance. D3 TDV6 S MY2005

But that is my point, there are Cowboys and bad experiences everywhere. I had exceptionally bad service from a certain Glasgow main dealer, but loads have had no problems.
It's having the knowledge to ask the right questions beforehand, don't just say don't go to any. If the insurance companies didn't provide such awful service, these companies wouldn't exist! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Hi Fellas,
Well thus far to be honest it had gone ok with Accident Exchange they were quick to sort out the way I wanted (though it was only after I had bothered to check out the garage they had instructed first which I then refused).
I am now going through 3rd party insurance and they have also been helpful, though the first time the hire company called they offered my a Volvo XC60, Nissan Pathfinder or Kia Picanto as courtsey cars..... ... I am sure I said to them I wanted a like for like...and according to the hire company that was like for like until I told them straight that they did not know their 4x4x from thier posteriors!!!
Another phone call to insurance company and another chat to the bloke who was friendly and apologetic, now I have been offered an Mercedes ML...abit better but not a LR Disco. So due to the time of day and me needing a car over the weekend I have accepted with provisio that I am able to change car next week if required (I use the seven seats quite frequently...being the main issue rather than being fussy). .
But I suppose it also depends on how long it is likely to take. In the event of the car being written off I would stillhave the courtesy car for 7 days from the date the cheque is received by me. so a couple of weeks I would guess.
And as I was typing this I just got a call from M&A Coachworks....looks like it will be a write off due to the cost of repair....not sure whether I want cry or try and look on the bright side.
Just would hate to see the car scrapped!!

Sometimes you have to take the emotion out of the matter and basically cut and run.
If it is a total loss, you might get more buying it back and immediately selling it to one of the capable forum vultures who are circling as I type. At least with this scenario, you'll get the benefit of seeing your D3 resurrected again or stripped so donor parts can help others in need. Mods:

Sorry to hear about the situation. Has your neighbour explained how they managed to do that much damage in a narrow residential street close to home? Tony

Hi Tony
Something about a spider on his shoulder / neck caused him to panic and try to swat it away and inadvertently causing him to swerve into my car...

I once hear of someone using a sneezing fit as an excuse to get hit by a train on a level crossing. Fortunately it was a shunting yard and the Defender 90 stood up quite well... De-Tango

EGRs blanked
