Rear Stop Tail Bulbs

Had to change my nearside rear stop tail bulb (top one) and found that both the rear bulbs are stop tail bulbs but the bottom one is only connected as a tail lamp.

Is that normal?

Yes, that's normal. It means you can use the bottom lamp as a spare for the brake light (just swop the two). Disco 5 HSE Lux

I noticed yesterday whilst reading the manuals Shocked that bulbs are covered by warranty
(might have only been 12 mths though)

They do tend to blow rather too often though Rolling Eyes Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

I have an official LR bulb kit (£10 off ebay) stuff in the jack cubby hole for such incidents Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Get some LED replacements from Ultra LEDS.

I replaced mine ages ago, no more blown bulbs Thumbs Up

Are the U38048R rear stop/tail light bulbs the same for the all four light, i.e. top rear/stop, middle rear? So, I need to buy 4 of these?

Yes, they're the same, so you need 4. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!
