Spare wheel removal adaptor (My Version)

Ok finally got round to making up an adaptor to remove the spare wheel without having to completely unload the car to lift the seats, the following pics are the solution i came up with .....

The 2 sections/components

socket and adaptor in place

how they all fit together

adaptor in use with ratchet but could use a brace instead for speed

view when one seat lifted

no need to cutting, grinding or mods to the car, amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it Mr. Green

I was just wondering how those that have done something similar to this have got on in deep water - would it be inclined to come in the winch easier without the rubber cover on it, or is the cover just cosmetic really? Only wondering because of the other reports of water getting in here.

Crap does get in without the rubber cover in place.

I use a similar set-up, leave a socket on the winder but put the cover over it, if I need to use I just push an extension bar down the gap and flick the cover off with it before plugging into the socket. Cover then gets put back on at the earliest opportunity

tintenter - Take the plastic covers off of the 3rd row seat legs, you'll get more room and they won't get scratched up

Tip of the month

Great Tip Tintenter Thumbs Up Even worse when you have boxes or kids in over or in the rear seats.Might I suggest slipping a small rubber tube or narrow gauge hosing over the spindle to stop wearing on the release handle when it rotates.

Ps I keep a spare wheel lock nut under the rubber cap also.
