Help! My D3 2.7 HSE in south Switzerland is driving me crazy
After 220'000 km on the clock I'm experiencing the first hassles with my Disco.
It runs smooth with no problems and than it suddenly goes in emergency status. I am forced to stop, turn off the engine and restart. And everything runs fine.
Sometimes it runs with no problems for days and days, sometimes the problem happens 7 to 10 times in a short distance.
Professionals say I have to change the ignition pump (high pressure) and the low pressure pump form the tank. I can't understand why I should spend all that money for just a problem in the software.
Does anyone of you had the same problem and what is the solution.
Thanks a lot for your help.
You need to have the codes read before any sensible sort of advice can be given as it can be anything from blown bulbs (These can be checked easily enough!!) to HP pump fault.
Until then, its pure guess work. Mark.

codes
Well the codes report *error with the ignition system" so it is a very generic answer.

I had something similar. Changed the fuel filter and all was happy.
Try that first before spending out, especially if you have been advised that the fuel pumps would be the first places to look.
