Thinking of Remap and EGR Blank!

Hello All,

New here and very green!

I am a proud new owner of a 55 plate Disco 3 HSE. I have been reading around and was looking into getting my car remapped by Dynachip mainly for better fuel economy as i am going on a road trip (without a caravan) around France and Spain which will involve a lot of motorway driving. At the moment i am getting around 22.9MPG and want to improve on that. Is remapping safe? has anyone done it and if so what sort of MPG are you getting? What are the pros and cons? Is it worth doing?

Whilst reading up about remapping i stumbled across EGR blanking… Is this a good thing to do? and again what are the pros and cons?

Apologies for all the questions but i want to make sure I do the right thing being a newbie and all!! Very Happy

welcome to the show Thumbs Up
if the egrs fail they can leave you stranded . personally I would recommend it and the car will run a bit smoother . Do the remap the car is far better with one .There are several companies offering this service , do a bit of reading and you will see the benefits .I would recommend a flush of the gearbox if it's not been done . There are lots of modifications /enhancements if you want them Thumbs Up

You must be doing town work to get 22 mpg?
It will easy do 25/27 at 75/80 and be nearer to 30mpg if you can keep it at 70mph.

Thanks for prompt replies.. What does BAS mean? (sorry, told you i was green).

Can i also set the remap back to the original settings if i was to sell the car?

I am getting the car serviced in a week or so.. Is there anything along with the gearbox flush i should consider doing?

I have done some motorway miles but the MPG on the screen doesn't really move! Could there be something wrong with the MPG reader?

68k Miles. The last service was a small one as it was with a dealer so it needs a proper full on service. The cam belt has been done on the car so that's one less thing to worry about. I was thinking of going the whole hog and getting all the filters changed along with the spark plugs etc.. etc…
