The op has a D4 and the later reference to flickering is in response to a post about a D4. The above only applies to a D3. If you fit D4 xenons to a D4 that previously had halogens and don't change the CCF settings they do not work at all. You have to change the CCF file on a D4.
I stand corrected Darren

I'd like to swap my D4 2009MY halogen headlights for Xenons.
What are the Valeo part numbers please?

ItSmee this is resurrecting an old post but I wanted to ask whether the Valeo lights you went for had the cornering light functionality? The reason I ask is that on eurocarparts.com they have the version you linked to, currently at £363.99 ea but also a version at £445.24 ea which is same but includes "curve light" as a function. Now I'm wondering is "Curve Light" their term for AFS or Cornering Light?
Never mind "curve light" ... For my reg they offer 3 headlamp variants, the top end one
Product Code: 471670260
says "Supplementary Article 2 with glow discharge lamp" in the fitment details.
Any idea what that means?.

No idea sorry, but that's actually the same one I was looking at as well that included the 'curve light'. It's listed as £684.99 on there now but until midnight you can use the 'weekend60' code and think these have 35% off, so I'm just trying to decide which one!

Coxman, Sorry for the late reply have had a manic weekend and have only just seen your query.
The lights I fitted were fixed xenon without AFS and/or cornering lamps. The standard xenon's are nearly plug and play (with the exception of a CCF mod to remove soft start). The halogen headlight connector fits directly without modification. To retrofit cornering lamps I think you need to fit a headlight ECU and there is also a difference with the connector which might be difficult to source if you are buying new units.
Whilst I am no expert I thought there were only two types of xenon headlight for earlier D4's - fixed xenon and AFS xenon (which also have cornering lamps).

These are the xenon headlights with AFS and cornering lamps. The glow discharge lamp is just a posh term for a xenon lamp - I assume the supplementary article 2 could be a reference to AFS.
I believe the 3 headlamp variants in ascending cost order are (please confirm this directly with the sellers):-
1) Halogen
2) Fixed Bi-xenon
3) Bi-xenon with AFS and cornering lamps
