For some reason my car tells me i need to add AdBlue but doesn't say how many miles left
So looked on Halfords and was £12 for 4 litres
Then tried local garage and it was £11.99 for 10litres - bargain. And guy even gave me a free pair of gloves
No idea how much I need to put in so better read manual tonight D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR

It holds 17 litres, if yours is as low as you say it will take all of it.

IIRC an AdBlue top-up is free from any LR dealer for a 2016 car?

For those with a service plan its free top ups, otherwise iirc it's £23 there or there abouts.

Well our 2017 car (Evoque 2l Ingenium) used 16 litres in 4000 miles.
/rant on/
What a load of crap. We have the service plan so LR filled it up "free" but how much better would it be without it. And we'd have a bigger fuel tank to boot. And It would weigh less. And use less fuel. And we'd not have to waste a day and 80 miles dropping it off. And have a loan car. and. and. and.

My D4 has just gone in for the 16k service today.
It nearly made it to the first service but I had to put a litre in last week.
I'm too tight to fill it up as I knew it was free on the service plan.
I paid £20 for a 20l container so not that expensive. D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.
I only work so I can afford to repair my Land Rovers!

The D4's tank is the same size, with or without AdBlue.
AdBlue serves a very useful role in greatly reducing NOx emissions.
As I've swapped between 2014, 2015 and 2016 D4's, I've noticed no difference at all in mpg (they are all equally bad, with or without AdBlue! )
Filling the AdBlue tank is no more difficult than filling the washer reservoir; why would you take an 80 mile round trip to the dealer and ask for a loan car?
I'm happy to buy AdBlue (at £11 for 10 litres, every 7,000 miles or so in the D4) for the benefit of reduced air pollution.

mine was about 11K miles, I think the mapping is just that wee bit better on a 2016 compared to a 2012, seems a bit more responsive Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Mine has just had the first service at 9.5k miles and they topped it up foc. It now however only shows 11k miles range rather than 16k when new.

Kinkyworld.
Are you sure they topped it up? I had my first service at the same mileage. My Adblue was reading about the same mileage as yours when it went in and no change when it came out. I contacted the dealer and they confirmed they had forgotten to refill it. I would ask them to check this as seems they may well have forgotten or only done partial refill. Should be about 16000 miles showing after a refill as you say. I think Adblue refills on Discoveries catch them out. Unfortunately it does show they don't go through the check list methodically and makes you wonder what else was missed. Gary

How much AdBlue mine uses seems to be very dependant on the type of driving I do. As much of my driving is on the motorway at a constant speed, the AdBlue hardly drops at all. If you're doing start/stop stuff in town the rate seems to rise dramatically. Made the first service with 9,000 miles range left!

I was under the impression that AD blue was perishable and could not be stored for long once opened? Last of the D4 HSE...

Dumb question but how do I see how many miles left for the AdBlue - SWMBO was looking last weekend whilst I was driving and couldn't find it.
I want to make sure its topped up before our August big trip D4 HSE - Aintree Green
