Only noticed this the other day when I happened to be driving the D3 with the window open - it's quiet enough that I hadn't noticed it previously!
When turning to the right (not driving straight, or to the left) I could hear a slight 'grinding' sort of sound - intermittent, as though there's something grating or rubbing at some point during the rotation of one of the road wheels. I'd guess that it was only happening for, at most, a quarter of the rotation of whichever wheel is making the sound - maybe less. Couldn't work out whether it's front or back - but pretty sure it's on the right hand side of the vehicle.
Any thoughts as to what it might be?

Try pressing the DSC button on the center console to turn it off.
If it stops, then could be sticking brake caliper (check if one wheel is hotter than the other side after a drive)
or steering angle calibration required.
Also check tyre pressures
Probably not this as you would hear this with the window closed

Hot wheels was the first thing I checked for - I've had sticky calipers before .

Wheel bearing, or bad CV on a driveshaft?
But just guessing really...

Wheel bearing is unlikely - had lower suspension arm replaced last month, 4-wheel alignment would surely have picked up any play in a bearing. I think a slight rubbing/binding of brakes is most likely culprit - got it booked in to have them checked next week.

Depends I suppose, I've watched people do 4 wheel alignment on my disco and never seen them do anything that would uncover a bad bearing if they weren't looking for one (which they never are) unless it was absolutely collapsed, in which case you'd know anyway.
AFAIK it's not uncommon for there to be no play present on a bearing on a discovery despite being in bad shape.
If the brakes were binding I'd expect a hot wheel, even if it was just binding a little bit. Rubbing on one spot could be caused by a slightly warped disc but I think you'd know about that too, wheel wobble or other vibration when braking.
Other than that I'm out of suggestions, close the window?

Also don't think brakes are likely given it only happens when you turn right. If it was brakes it should happen all the time

I have had exactly this on my other car (a Land Cruiser 200 - don't stone me ) three weeks ago: intermittent grinding sound while turning right slightly depending on the speed.
Wheel bearing seemed ok and no brake disk was much hotter than the others (even checked with a thermal camera for amateurs myself).
The first roadside mechanic stated: possibly a bent back plate behind the brake disk. He found a little misalignment and bent it back. As soon as I drove of and turned right, the grinding sound was back.
Took the car to my trusted garage, they immediately pointed out the brakes - disks and pads/calipers - needed renewal as the were worn and probably sticking. They changed that and the problem went away. They even showed me the photos of the sticky calipers.
This was interesting as I too have had sticky calipers before and would not have put it down to those.
So - it maybe worth to have another look at the breaks?
