Did the usual 1, 2, 3 trick for a quick fix:
1. changed the brake lamps for nice new Lucas ones - no change
2. changed the brake light switch for a nice new LR one - no change
3. checked for 12v on the troublesome little red wire - perfect
Doh! gonna have to be a bit more technical now
Only got a Hawkeye but amongst the dozen or so DTCs this one caught my eye:
"C1A91 - Front Left Wheel Speed Sensor. Signal has too few transition/events"
So this morning fitted a LR SSB500091 wheel speed sensor.
Often called an ABS sensor.
Bingo - fault cleared together with all the other DTCs and messages
Hopefully this will help another member recognise what also causes distress to a D3
Great forum and superb contributions from it's many members Cheers, Dave in Essex

Thanks Martin - great to get feedback from our "Boss"
Great forum for advice. Now on my second Disco 3 in about 5 years.
Usually post stuff up that works for me.
Often just quietly get on with it - e.g. doing front lower wishbones Cheers, Dave in Essex

Ah ! I have a similar problem, have yet to have the time to replace brake switch etc but when mine came on I had an abs kick once or twice and my initial thought was the symptom was similar to an old vectors I had which used to activate the abs because of a cracked exiter (?) ring on the cv joint. I really must get into mine and have a look. Cheers for the info Jarrod
